The Team The Labs Product team is based in our San Francisco studio in SoMa, two blocks from the Embarcadero. We sit at the intersection between Sutherland Labs, Sutherland Digital and Sutherland itself, helping to give birth to ideas, prototypes and live product deployments. Our goal is to bridge the digital and physical world by simplifying and automating many of the painful customer service processes. The Team’s main focus is on delivering chatbots centered on customer experience/support for Fortune 500-1000 brands. Our platform is based on + + Google Cloud/AWS platform. We typically run Client workshops for discovery and manage end-to-end delivery. You’ll be working alongside a diverse team psychologists, anthropologists, ethnographers, filmmakers, engineers, product managers, strategists, and many more, to design best in class experiences for large well-known brands across the Fortune 500/1000 and unicorn startup world. For more information about Sutherland Labs, please visit: For more information about Sutherland Global, please visit: Key Responsibilities Development Collaborate with Experience Designers to build efficient and reusable front-end systems and abstractions for our AI assistants and the services that run them Optimize web applications to maximize performance and usability across mobile and desktop Set technical product direction on front-end technologies Identify and resolve issues of performance and scaling Skills You Bring Qualifications Experience 3+ years of experience building and owning scalable web products, services and platforms Prior experience across different working environments, including: agency/dev shop, enterprise, startups and innovation divisions Prior experience with UX and visual design Engineering Chops Fluency in several of these frameworks: React, AngularJS, Saas/LESS Fanatical about API/Microservices, cross-browser development and automated testing (Selenium, etc.) Full-stack cloud infrastructure knowledge with appreciation of high availability systems across wide ranging devices and environments, including legacy systems Client Solutioning Ability to quickly prototype and operate within our Client's’ existing legacy infrastructure Respects design (read: gives a damn about users) and not merely business stakeholders Fluent in distilling and articulating vague and complex issues Personal Skills Excited to embrace the unknown and inspire new ways of thinking Natural hacker and learner, keeping on top of latest trends Product Ownership mindset: Reliable, takes pride in the quality of their work and has great problem-solving design skills Bonus Familiarity with chatbot/IVR development: Amazon Lex, Google API.AI,, Watson, etc. Prior experience with server-side languages: NodeJS, Python, Rails Prior experience with ML/AI development, big data analytics and applications, and messaging apps and platforms Other Requirements Strong, well rounded portfolio (e.g., GitHub, Behance, personal website) that showcases the required areas of experience Eligibility to work in the US Global and domestic travel may be required Must have experience or flexibility to work with distributed teams across multiple time zones Role is located in San Francisco
